Relatives & Cousins Vol. 1: The Story Behind the Sound

The wait is over.
Today marks the debut of the Relatives & Cousins Vol. 1 documentary trailer—a glimpse into a music project powered by collaboration, culture, and cutting-edge technology. Created by Thurz and Party In My Living Room (PIMLR) in partnership with Suno, this isn’t just an album. It’s a movement.

What started as a 3-day camp became a 21-track double album, blending soulful anthems and backyard-function bangers. Disc 1 taps into the West Coast function, while Disc 2 moves with depth and soul. The sessions were part live jam, part AI experiment—leveraging Suno’s generative music tools to build tracks from scratch, sample by sample, with artists jumping in and out like jazz musicians in a cipher.

🎬 The Doc Is Just the Beginning

Starting with today’s trailer, we’ll be releasing a new episode each week documenting the process—what it took to bring together this many voices, this much talent, and this level of intentionality.

In the trailer, you’ll see glimpses of Cocoa Sarai’s vocal mastery, Chuck Inglish flipping loops with ease, Bart Oatmeal (Baron Davis) leaning into the booth, Ill Camille crafting bars in the moment, and Thurz orchestrating it all like a conductor channeling community spirit.
